Silver 7 Piece Manicure Set Cased Hallmarked Birmingham 1918 offered for sale by silver2treasure.

This is a Cased Solid Silver 7 Piece Manicure Set. It comprises of 2 little silver lidded and cut glass pots, a file, a nail cleaner, a buffer and 2 pairs of silver handled scissors (one having curved ends). The handles and lids have a pretty engine turned decoration to them and the file, cleaner and the 2 little pots have a circular cartouche on them which are still blank so they could be personalised. The little solid silver lids to the cut glass pots are gilt inside and the glass bodies have a chunky pattern to them. The blades to the 2 pairs of solid silver handled scissors are steel and are both stamped and of course the cleaner part and the actual file are both steel with solid silver handles. This set comes complete in its original purple lined box.

Makers Marks: WJM & Co (WJ Myatt & Co), the 2 pairs of scissors are both marked the same as the rest with just a different maker of BP DC (Boots Pure Drug Company)

Dimensions: The file and cleaner 4.75 inches long and just over 0.5 inches wide at the widest part of the handle, the buffer is 3.5 inches long and 1.25 inches wide and 1.25 inches tall. The scissors are 4.75 inches long and 4.5 inches long and the little pots are just over 1.25 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches tall

Condition: Overall it is in good condition. There are some minor little scraches on the blades of the scissors and on one pair one handle slightly overlaps the other one when they are closed, but this is very minor. There is also some minor scratching ot the handle of the file. All of the above is commensurate with age and use and is only to be expected on useable metal items. The box is in good condition inside but is a worn on the outside, but the clasp is in good working order
