The dining table remains today as important as it was in the 17th and 18th Centuries for some of us. Dining accessories made from silver hold a special attraction as they are as useful today as when they were made.
Toast racks date from the mid 1700's and early ones were simply made usually from silver wire. As is the case with many silver items the Victorians were prolific at making much more elaborate toast racks including novelty shapes.
Marrow scoops are less used today for scooping marrow from roasted animal bones. These long handled sppons and scoops were used to dig out the jelly from these bones which was considered a great delicacy and highly nutricious.
Silver tableware remains highly collectable today
