Mustard was origionally served "dry" and mixed on the plate. In the mid 1700's the first "paste" mustard was developed and the need for a new serving pot arrived.
Mustard Pots come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Mustard paste contains vinegar and as a consequence there was a need for a glass liner to avoid the silver corroding.
As a result of constant wear between the mustard spoon and the glass liner these often became "chipped" and although fairly easy to replace the price should reflect any such damage.
