Antique Silver Christening Sets have had great appeal through the ages as a traditional gift for a child. many of these types of gifts survive as they were often locked away and not put into everyday use.
The set was traditionally given to the parents to keep safe for the child. Many contain knives,forks and spoons and often are small in size to fit a childs hands.
It was very common to engrave the childs initial onto all the pieces. Often other engravings were added of childrens nursery rhymes particulary to larger pieces such as bowls.
