Dressing Table Sets were popular throughout the 19th and early 20th Century. Whilst moderns sets often only consist of a mirror brushes and comb,early sets can be much more elaborate.

 

Very collectable are travelling sets usually cased and often containing silver topped perfume bottles,flasks,shoe horns,pomade jars and many similar items. The maker will also add to the collectability and price. Garrard & Co demands high prices as will Mappin & Webb.

 

Modern sets are obviously cheaper with highly decorative or enamel backed commanding the highest price.

 

These items were often given as gifts and cherished by the owner. However I do see many damaged items for sale. Watch out for chipped enamel and cloudy or cracked mirrors which greatly reduce prices.
